Import your data
Bring your own tables, documents, recordings or linked files into a project. Choose the import path by what the files contain.
Open the importer
Everything you work on in Frisket starts as a sheet: a table, one row per record, file or recording. Importing turns your material into sheets, and keeps the original files alongside so you can check results against them.
On the Data tab, click Import data… at the left of the ribbon.
Choose a starting point
The Import dialog lists four kinds of import down the left. Choose by what you have:
- One file for a table: a CSV or Excel file, or rows you've copied from a spreadsheet or web page. Each row becomes a row in the sheet.
- Multiple files for documents, scans, images, recordings and video. Each file becomes a row. Switch to URLs to fetch files from links instead.
- Split PDFs when a PDF holds several documents and you want one row for each.
- Feed or source for a source that keeps adding items, such as an RSS feed, a YouTube channel or a court docket. Frisket can check it for new items.
Import recordings and other files
Follow the review for your material
Each kind of import checks what matters for that material before anything is added:
- Tables show how the rows were read and what type each column will be, so dates and IDs come through intact.
- PDFs show whether Frisket can read their text, and let you choose a row per file, per page or per document.
- Recordings and other files import straight away.
For tables and PDFs, nothing is added to your project until you click the final Import button.
Work with PDFs already in a sheet
If PDFs are already in a sheet and you need them split into pages or documents, you don't need to import them again. Use PDF tools › Split PDFs….
